On Sunday 15-5-16 Pure Vietnam Beauty and Spa in conjunction with our friends from Lanterns Restaurant went to the orphanage at Tu Bong, ninety minutes north of Nha Trang by car. We have made a commitment to help this orphanage every month, at the moment, as they have so many babies to look after and are really struggling. The cost of feeding the children and providing nappies for them is a small price to help them in the amazing work they do. A special lady by the name of Lyn Griffin gave me some money while I was recently in Australia to spend on charity. Thank you for your contribution Lyn your donation has helped feed these babies.
This orphanage has just received a new baby that they have named Duc who is now two weeks old. He was left at the orphanage in a box out the front. He is a tiny little chap with a fantastic head of hair and the longest fingers with very big feet. I think he’ll grow into a tall young man. He seems very healthy.
The young boy with the cleft palate has had the first operation and he looks so much better. It is only a few weeks since he had it and seems to be healing really well. He is sitting up and crawling. He was the most active that I have seen him. He is certainly enjoying his food.
The twin boys are becoming mischievous. They are rolling and lifting up their heads and having a good look around. I don’t think it will be too long before they are very mobile.
Young Phuc, who has mental and physical disabilities, was actually the most peaceful I had seen. Maybe it was the calming presence of Hien sitting patiently with him that made him feel comfortable.
All up at the moment they have eight babies, all under the age of 16 months. They also have two young boys one 10 years old and the other 4 years old. The 10 year old boy is so quiet and sad. It breaks your heart. I guess everyone wants to play and spend time with the babies.

They do an amazing job taking care of the children, it is full of laughter, hugs and kisses but looking after so many babies is a continuous overwhelming job.

Vào ngày Chủ nhật, Pure Viet Nam Beauty and Spa đã kết hợp với những người bạn từ nhà hàng Lanterns đi đến trại trẻ mồ côi ở Tu Bông - cách 90 phút về phía Bắc Nha Trang - bằng xe hơi. Chúng tôi đã thực hiện một cam kết giúp đỡ trại trẻ mồ côi này hàng tháng. Vào lúc này, họ có rất nhiều em bé để chăm sóc và đang thực sự gặp khó khăn. Chi phí nuôi dưỡng và cung cấp tã lót là việc làm nhỏ bé của chúng tôi để giúp đỡ họ thực hiện tốt công việc tuyệt vời mà họ đang làm. Gần đây, một người phụ nữ đặc biệt tên Lyn Graffin đã cho tôi một số tiền khi tôi đang ở Úc để chi cho công tác từ thiện. Cảm ơn Lyn trong việc đóng góp nuôi các em.
Trại trẻ mồ côi vừa nhận thêm một bé trai mới mà họ đặt tên Đức hiện đã được hai tuần tuổi. Em bị bỏ lại trước trại trẻ trong một cái hộp. Một em bé với đầu tóc đáng yêu cùng các ngón tay rất dài và đôi bàn chân lớn. Tôi nghĩ em sẽ lớn lên thành một chàng trai trẻ cao to. Em trông rất khoẻ mạnh.
Một bé trai nhỏ được phẫu thuật hỡ hàm ếch đã có những hoạt động đầu tiên, nay trông có vẻ tốt hơn rất nhiều. Em đã ngồi và bò được. Đây là lần đầu tôi thấy em lanh lợi như vậy. Em chắc chắn đã được thưởng thức thức ăn trọn vẹn nhất. Hai cậu bé sinh đôi đã trở nên tinh nghịch. Hai em đang lăn và nâng được đầu lên để nhìn mọi vật xung quanh. Tôi không nghĩ là mất quá lâu để hai em di chuyển.
Bé Phúc, đứa trẻ khuyết tật về tinh thần và thể chất, thực sự trông rất bình yên. Có lẽ nhờ sự kiên nhẫn của Hiền ngồi cùng em đã làm cho em cảm thấy thoải mái.
Tại thời điểm này, có tất cả 8 em nhỏ đều dưới 16 tháng tuổi. Ngoài ra còn hai bé trai, một 10 tuổi, một 4 tuổi. Cậu bé 10 tuổi trông thật yên tĩnh và buồn. Nó làm nhói tim bạn. Tôi đoán rằng mọi người đều muốn chơi và dành nhiều thời gian cho các em nhỏ tuổi hơn.

One of our wonderful customers wanted to do some charity at an orphanage while she was visiting in Nha Trang so she asked us to help her achieve this. She wanted to help those less fortunate than herself and give back to this wonderful country that she is visiting.

Andrea comes from Germany and she was very happy that she was able to go to the markets and buy some toys, some hair things for the girls, lots of vegetables, eggs and basic cooking ingredients but she was able to buy some special lolly treats for the children for TET. It is good to be able to help pick out what the children will receive. We knew a few things that they wanted but Andrea also decided what she wanted to give. Andrea wanted to buy something to eat and something for fun. It is always good to have a balance.

After a bit of shopping at the local markets we took everything back to the orphanage. They loved the balls, skipping ropes and toys that Andrea bought for them. Andrea had a great time playing and skipping with them. Some of the boys and girls were great at skipping. It was a great way to spend a few dollars and a Sunday morning.

We had a fantastic day on Sunday the 10th of January.

It is TET next month so we took 20 children from an orphanage to buy new clothes and new shoes for Lunar New Year. They ranged in age from 3 to 15 years old. This is the third year in a row we have done this. But this is the first year we took the children to choose there own clothes. Last year we took them to the shoe shop and had pre bought the clothes..

We took the children in groups of five to a clothes sho and then to a shoe shop. The children got to pick what they wanted instead of receiving what we had picked for them. It seems perfectly normal and easy for us, but this so called simple task for us is something orphans rarely, if ever, get to do. They had so much fun and so did we. Some children found it hard to make a decision but once they saw something they wanted they made up their minds. It was wonderful to see their joy.

Lunar New Year is so important in Vietnam and having new clothes is an important part of it. It is great that these children dont have to miss out on it. It took a little planning and lots of helpers but it all went very well. Steven and I would like to thank Mark and Majella Clayton and Colleen Rendell for generously giving money to help with this. Thank you to Nhung Nguyen for the lovely hair bands and hair ties. The girls loved them.

We needed lots of people to help with this, staff from Pure Vietnam Beauty and Spa, Dung and Dung, friends from Australia Peter Shelton and Fiona Cossill, and many of our friends Thao, Hoa, Hien, Uyen, Uyen and Lanh, all assisted. Without their help we could not have done this. Thank you all so much. It was an amazing day.
